"Shiver in the Night", Memoirs of Andy Pratt
Andy Pratt was a sensation in the 70's pop world, bursting onto the scene in '73 with his one-of-a-kind single, Avenging Annie. For the next four years he was welcomed into the world of rock stardom by such music industry luminaries as Clive Davis, Nat Weiss, Ahmet Ertegun and Arif Mardin. He recorded with top musicians, the same ones Peter Gabriel and Paul Simon used. He toured America twice with a crack band, trucks, roadies, groupies, and whatever else anyone might want. During those four years he appeared on television, got heavy airplay, was given rave reviews in many publications, and cheered on by thousands. He shared stages with countless musicians, and met just about everybody in the music world. Among the famous names appearing in this book are: Andy Warhol, John Belushi, Miles Davis, Tony Levin, Steve Gadd, the Band, Foreigner, David Gates, Bela Bartok, and Bono...
Andy Pratt is the great-grandson of Charles Pratt, a turn-of-the-century oil magnate who became Chairman of the Board of Rockefeller's Standard Oil and founded Brooklyn's Pratt Institute. Andy's father, Edwin Pratt, was a World War II veteran and Headmaster of Browne and Nichols School (Cambridge, Massachusetts) for twenty years. Andy was born in 1947, just after the Second World War, to the ruling classes, the last real generation of old money in America. During his lifetime the world has changed irrevocably.
In "Shiver in the Night", Pratt uses a series of autobiographical pieces, most of which could be published separately, to tell his strange and unique story; this book could serve as a primer in mental, physical, and emotional survival; it is full of sickness and healing, foolishness and wisdom, man and God.

"Avenging Annie" was covered by Roger Daltrey on his 1977 album "One Of The Boys" and was featured again in 1981 on Daltrey's "Best of Roger Daltrey." The song also appeared in Todd Haynes' 1998 film, "Velvet Goldmine."
As a session musician Andy played and sang with Judy Collins (the song "Special Delivery" from the Elektra album "Bread and Roses"), Andy Mendelson (Arista), Tony Scheuren (Ultimate Spinach, National Lampoon), Erik Lindgren (on a Boston-Area Camera and Stereo commercial), Mason Daring and Jeannie Stahl (Rounder Records), Peter C. Johnson (A and M Records), Johnny Barnes, Edgar Winter, Little T and One Track Mike, Laura Austin, and many others now forgotten.
He performed onstage with John Belushi, T-Bone Burnett, Robin and David Batteau, Jon Butcher, Toni Lynn Washington, James Montgomery, Moogy Klingman, Stewkey from "The Nazz," and others. Foreigner, John Sebastian, Loggins and Messina, The Band and Rick Derringer are among the rock and roll greats he has opened for. David Cassidy covered Andy's "All I Want Is You" on his "The Best Of David Cassidy" album.
Andy is currently at the top of his craft, as evidenced in his recent triumphant performance at Schuba's in Chicago. He is available for live performance, solo or with band.
